OWASP Aligarh

This is the official OWASP Page for Aligarh Chapter for Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP).
OWASP is a worldwide not-for-profit organisation focused on improving the security of software. With over 250 local Chapters worldwide and 45,000+ volunteers OWASP’s open community is dedicated to enabling organisations and individuals to develop and maintain applications that can be trusted. OWASP’s meet-ups, tools, standards, guidelines, documents and forums are free and open to anyone interested in improving application security. The chapter leaders are Mohd Anwar Jamal Faiz and and Dr. Samreen F.

This Chapter will motivate our group members to inculcate the best and secure software development practices in their endeavors. Identifying CVEs and being prepared is the key. We welcome students, graduates, academics and professionals.

Participation

The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) is a nonprofit foundation that works to improve the security of software. All of our projects ,tools, documents, forums, and chapters are free and open to anyone interested in improving application security.

Chapters are led by local leaders in accordance with the Chapter Policy. Financial contributions should only be made online using the authorized online donation button. To be a SPEAKER at ANY OWASP Chapter in the world simply review the speaker agreement and then contact the local chapter leader with details of what OWASP Project, independent research, or related software security topic you would like to present.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in our Projects, Local Chapters, Events, Online Groups, and Community Slack Channel. We especially encourage diversity in all our initiatives. OWASP is a fantastic place to learn about application security, to network, and even to build your reputation as an expert. We also encourage you to be become a member or consider a donation to support our ongoing work.

Collaboration

Mohd. Anwar Jamal Faiz is dedicated to introduce, advocate and broaden the knowledge of application security and tools to the students and practitioners in the North India and especially to the students of, but not limited to, the Aligarh Muslim University, India. We will hold talks with IEEE members, Industry experts, OWASP leaders, Faculty, Students and professionals in the field of Software development and Security practices.

Anwar Jamal is a young and socially proactive Secure Software developer, pentest enthusiast, poet and writer. He completed his B.Tech. in Computer Science from the coveted Aligarh Muslim University. He also completed the Advanced Program in Project Management from IIM, Kozhikode and a program on Leadership in 21st century organizations from the Copenhagen Business School. A published author of 3 books apart from in dozens of anthologies.


With more than a decade of corporate work experience in the top Software product and services companies of the world, freelancing, training and consultancy, Anwar Jamal has a good grasp over technology, branding, inter-personal skills and human psychology.


Currently working as Software Development Engineer II in Expedia, the world’s largest online travel company. I have also worked in Adobe Systems, Symantec and TCS. Involved in Development, QA and Business roles including but not limited to requirements gathering, brainstorming, POC, Scrum, development, automations, TDD, black and white box testing. Have extensive experience in Penetration tests, fuzzing, reviews, scripting, code coverages, bug fixing and monitoring. As a hobby, I do write. I believe in egalitarian principles giving everyone their share of equality, joy, peace, secularism and natural-justice.


He is published in dozens of anthologies -Mélange, Bhava-kalash, Pushp-gandha, Dilliwali, Kaafiyana to name a few. He is the author of the poetry book ‘Beyond My Lips’ published by Partridge Publishing, and a book of short stories ‘Sans Crainte’. His long Hindi Poem Satyashala, The House of Truths, a marvelous creation was published recently in 2019. In Literary circles, he is also known as Barbar Ghazipuri. With an inherent love for humanity and egalitarian principles, his works do reflect the social and human issues.
