April InfoSec Professionals Happy Hour

Please join us as we get together for our April in person meetup. We will talk about potential topics for the upcoming meetings and determine the best place to meet for May. The goal is to have a combination of social and technical meetings once we have established some chapter momentum.

Where: Online via Zoom

Presentation: The Rise of API-Led Cyberattacks

API-led cyberattacks lead to data breaches, customer data leaks, and privacy-driven lawsuits around the world, which means protecting all APIs is mission-critical. Traditional tactics like web application firewalls won’t work for APIs because they have limits to the level of protection they can provide. The challenge of securing APIs is due to two things. First, APIs are built differently making them harder to protect for traditional security solutions looking just at the network layer vs the source code and two teams don’t have the right tools required for full API discovery to truly know what APIs are in use.

Speaker: Dr. Anirban Banerjee

Dr. Anirban Banerjee is the CEO and Co-founder of Riscosity, a data flow security platform.

Before founding Riscosity, he founded two security startups that were acquired by Delinea and Cloudflare. Additionally, he has authored 15 scientific papers, has 8 patents, and received 2 grants from the National Science Foundation. Dr. Banerjee is an industry expert in security and compliance, malware analysis, software supply chain security, data privacy, and third-party data observability.
