Call for candidates

Individual (voting) Members who have been in good standing for the 12 months ending on Membership Day (September 30, 2026), and who meet the volunteer contribution and other candidate qualifications, can stand for the Board. Candidates must nominate themselves; third-party nominations are not accepted. To apply, please refer to the email titled "OWASP 2026 Global Board Election Kickoff", which includes all details.

The full eligibility requirements for candidates can be found in the OWASP Bylaws, Sections 3.12 and 4.3, and in the Board Directors Policy, Section A.1. The OWASP Bylaws can be found at https://policy.owasp.org/legal/bylaws and the Board Directors Policy at https://policy.owasp.org/operational/director.

Once elected, successful candidates will serve a two-year term on the OWASP Board of Directors, beginning January 1, 2027 and ending December 31, 2028. Before taking their seat, they are required to complete a Director's Commitment Agreement, which includes a commitment to maintain good standing as a voting member of OWASP throughout their term, complete a conflict of interest disclosure, undergo a background check, and abide by the OWASP Bylaws, Code of Conduct, Antitrust Policy, and Board Directors Policy. The Director's Commitment Agreement can be found at https://policy.owasp.org/legal/directors-commitment-agreement.

Please familiarize yourself with these policies and agreements before submitting your nomination. If you have any questions, please contact the Executive Director.

If you are unable to meet the eligibility requirements, or abide by these policies and agreements, you are not eligible to serve on the OWASP Board of Directors.

Directors are solely responsible for maintaining good standing as a voting member throughout their term. A Director who fails to do so may have their seat vacated under Sections 4.5 and 4.6 of the Bylaws. This has happened several times in the past. We strongly urge Director-elects to take out sufficient membership to cover their entire term: adding a two-year membership to your current membership, or changing to a Lifetime membership, is the ideal way to avoid this issue entirely.

Board election results

Once voting has closed, on the following business day the OWASP Foundation will confirm the eligibility of the provisionally elected candidates and ask them whether they accept their election to the Board. If a candidate has not responded by 11:59 pm US Eastern Time on November 3, 2026, the next-ranked candidate(s) will be selected and asked if they wish to serve, until all vacancies are filled.

The OWASP Foundation will announce the full results of the election on November 4, 2026, including the names of the elected candidates, the votes cast for each candidate, and the total ballots cast, as required by the Board Directors Policy. The results will be published on the OWASP website and sent to all members via email.
