About Marketing Working Group

A dedicated Marketing Working Group will create the structure, focus, and agility needed to promote OWASP’s mission more effectively in today’s dynamic digital and cybersecurity landscape. With clearly defined responsibilities, a skilled team, and measurable objectives, this WG can play a critical role in building OWASP’s brand equity and community strength for years to come.

Objectives

  • Develop and enforce branding guidelines across all OWASP assets.

  • Launch and manage global marketing campaigns and initiatives.

  • Provide marketing support for OWASP projects, chapters, and events.

  • Build and maintain strong corporate and community partnerships.

  • Increase engagement on digital platforms (social media, website, newsletter).

  • Track performance through data-driven reporting and KPIs.

The scope of work for the OWASP Marketing Working Group encompasses all strategic and operational aspects of OWASP’s marketing and outreach initiatives. This includes developing and enforcing standardized branding guidelines to ensure visual and messaging consistency across projects, chapters, and global events. The WG will craft and execute a comprehensive content strategy, including blogs, newsletters, and digital assets, to highlight OWASP’s mission, tools, and community impact. It will manage OWASP’s social media presence to increase engagement and visibility, support project leaders and chapter organizers in promoting their work, and collaborate closely with event teams to enhance marketing for flagship conferences and regional activities.

Additionally, the WG will serve as a strategic partner to the sponsorship and fundraising teams, helping design marketing collateral and campaigns to attract and retain industry partners. To ensure accountability and transparency, the WG will maintain a marketing performance dashboard and provide regular updates to the OWASP Global Board.
