Virtual OWASP Italy Day 2021

OWASP would like to announce a call for papers for the OWASP Italy Day 2021, to be held as a virtual event on April 28th, 2021. This will be a free, one day, informal event, aimed at increasing awareness and knowledge of web application security. The event is primarily intended to appeal to security professionals, software developers, software quality engineers and computer science students with a strong interest in computer security. The goal of the event is to stimulate interest in web application security and secure software engineering practices, and foster new initiatives within organizations. We encourage security professionals, software developers, academics and students to contribute presentations on their work, as an opportunity to share knowledge and lessons learned on relevant web application and software security topics.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

We are interested in all topics related to web application security. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Security aspects of emerging web technologies / paradigms / languages / frameworks
  • Secure development: frameworks, best practices, secure coding…
  • Security of web frameworks (Struts, Spring, ASP.Net MVC, RoR, etc)
  • Vulnerability analysis (code review, penetration testing, static analysis etc)
  • Threat modelling of web applications
  • Mobile security and security for the mobile web
  • Cloud security
  • Browser security, local storage and HTML5 security
  • Countermeasures for web application vulnerabilities
  • Web application security awareness and education
  • Security in web services, REST, and service oriented architectures
  • Privacy in web apps, web services and data storage

SUBMISSION RULES

Those who are interested in participating as speakers to the event can submit an abstract of their talk to the OWASP Italy board by sending an email to: [email protected]. The email subject must be “Virtual OWASP Italy Day 2021: CFP”. The email body must contain the following information:

  • Name and surname of the speaker
  • Role of the speaker: student at X, security engineer at Y, …
  • Short biography of the speaker
  • List of speaker’s previous papers/articles/talks on the same topics (max 5 items)
  • Title of the presentation
  • Abstract of the presentation The submission will be reviewed by the OWASP Italy board and the most interesting proposals will be selected and invited to the event for presentation.
